BULLETIN— LETTERS FROM LAWYERS

If you have been charged with a criminal or traffic charge, or involved in an accident, you may have received a pile of unsolicited letters from attorneys around the area, many from Pittsburgh. Typically, they are from attorneys desperate for business.

These mass mailings are legal, but our firm does not approve of them. Many of the letters contain puffing and attempt to compare results they have had to your particular case, which they know nothing about. Many of them result in overcharging for services and substandard representation. Many of the lawyers have very limited experience, if any at all, in the county in which your case will be heard.

It is in your best interest to hire a lawyer that you know, or that you have been personally referred to, rather than one who has to send out mass mailings to get business. It is also important to research the lawyer’s credentials and professional achievements\
